An Asian handicap gives one team a start of a goal, several goals or a fraction of a goal, and the bet is settled on the adjusted score. The favourite gets a minus handicap and the underdog a plus. Half-goal lines make a level score impossible, and whole and quarter lines refund all or part of the stake when the adjusted score is level, so the draw drops out as a separate outcome. You are left with two sides, usually priced close to evens.

Quarter-goal lines: half and half
A quarter line such as -0.25 or +0.75 splits your stake equally across the two nearest lines. That adds two outcomes: half won and half refunded, or half lost and half refunded. Both examples below use made-up teams.
